FAQ's
The two (2) major types of stainĀ are:
Solid colors have a lot of pigment. These are the "Opaque" stains that appear to be like a paint. They allow the texture of the wood to show through, but not the grain.
Semi-transparent or transparent stains contain less pigment and produce a thinner film, in part to allow the texture and the grain of the wood to show through. Both types are available in water-based and oil-based formulations.
